Guwahati: A local contractor died Tuesday evening after an argument over land turned into a machete attack. Juwair Ali Siddique, also known as Badal, was working on a pond embankment near his house in Patia Pathar when the trouble started at 5:30 PM. He was the son of a former teacher and the son-in-law of former Dhing MLA Mobarak Ali Pathan.

Siddique faced off against members of his own family. The situation escalated fast. According to the victim's family, "one Jiabur Rahman reportedly brought a machete from his residence and attacked Siddique" during the shouting match. The wound was deep.

Friends and family rushed the injured man to the hospital. He did not survive. Dhing Police arrived at the scene shortly after the attack to start their investigation. They sent the body to Nagaon Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem exam. Locals held protests demanding justice for the victim.
