Congress and BJP Clash Over Ram Mandir Donation Theft

Guwahati: Political tensions erupted outside the Assam Legislative Assembly on Monday after reports surfaced regarding stolen donations from the Ram Mandir. Congress MLA Dr. Joy Prakash Das blasted the BJP-led administration for a security breakdown. He argued the incident exposes a deep flaw in the government's ability to protect holy sites.

"The government failed to provide proper security to the Ram Temple. Money was stolen from the Ram Temple. Nothing worse than this can happen in this country. The issue on which these people won the elections—if they couldn't secure the same temple, then how will they be able to ensure security for the rest of the temples in the country?" Das said.

BJP legislator Chakradhar Gogoi condemned the theft, insisting that funds given to God belong only to religious causes. Theft is wrong. He pushed back against recent calls for a Hindu Rashtra, noting that India is a land of many faiths. Gogoi emphasized the need to back inclusive growth for all citizens while honoring the party's duty to the Hindu majority.
