Itanagar: A community organization in Arunachal Pradesh has launched a new ambulance service designed to provide affordable emergency medical transport to residents of eight villages in the Siang district. Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing flagged off the vehicle at Riew Redang Dere alongside Pangin Additional Deputy Commissioner Gamtum Padu.

The Nugong Banggo Kebang, a non-political and non-profit group, developed the initiative to address local healthcare challenges. According to the organization, the service will be offered at subsidised rates to the general public. Members of the Nugong Banggo community will receive further relief, as they are required only to cover the cost of fuel for emergency trips.

General Secretary-cum-Finance Secretary Shaini Taki explained that the vehicle was purchased using money collected through a 2025 lottery campaign despite various financial hurdles. Tasing and Padu praised the effort, citing the positive impact the service will have on regional healthcare access. The organization represents a collective of residents from Riew, Beging, Rasing, Jorsing, Komsing Kumku, Komsing Karo, Pangi, and Sissen.
