Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma thanked Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday for her recent trip to the state. The visit focused on the local people, heritage, and traditions. Sangma noted that the Minister made a genuine effort to connect with the crowd.
Sitharaman spoke in both Khasi and Garo languages during her public appearance. She also referenced the work of poet U Soso Tham. These gestures earned praise from the Chief Minister. Sangma stated that the visit demonstrated her warmth and respect towards the people of Meghalaya.
The Minister also highlighted local development and praised nature. She discussed the life and work of Bah Hally War. Sitharaman called him a deserving recipient of the Padma Shri. Sangma said this showed her deep admiration for the region. He thanked her for her thoughtful engagement, saying her visit "once again demonstrated her warmth and respect towards the people of Meghalaya."
