Kohima: Polling personnel gathered at the deputy commissioner's office in Chumoukedima on June 11 for a training session ahead of the Ward 11 bye election. The session was conducted under the supervision of Returning Officer T. Lemlila Sangtam, who also serves as the additional deputy commissioner, alongside Assistant Returning Officer and Extra Assistant Commissioner Er. Khriengunuo Theunuo.
District level trainers guided the staff through election procedures, detailing specific roles and responsibilities required to manage the vote efficiently. Officials confirmed that the polling station for this election is located at the Government Middle School in Block IV, Chumoukedima. Residents are scheduled to head to the polls on June 16, with voting opening at 7:30 a.m.
Returning Officer T. Lemlila Sangtam requested support from political parties, candidates, civil society groups, and ward residents to maintain order throughout the process. She stated, "The returning officer has further called upon all candidates, political parties, ward councillors, civil society organisations and residents to extend their cooperation in ensuring a peaceful, free and fair election process in Chumoukedima Town." She also encouraged voters to participate responsibly to foster a stable environment.
