Imphal: The Chandel District Olympic Association marked International Olympic Day with a tree planting event at Ziontlang Village Football Ground. The group acted on a directive from the Manipur Olympic Association. They dug in on Tuesday.
S.S. Olish, Chandel MLA and association president, led the effort. Olish worked alongside officials to put trees in the ground. He pushed for a blend of environmental care and the core Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.
Local leadership attended the event in force. Addl SP and General Secretary Ts Chamna Anal joined Ts Kothar Monsang, HL Lovingson, Db Kowar Lamkang, Th Albert Chothe, Bs Augustine, and Rd Sujani at the site. These executive members worked to finish the planting drive as a community project.
The association highlighted the link between sports and social responsibility. The group noted that this work serves as "a reminder of the role sports organizations can play in promoting social responsibility and creating a greener future for coming generations." The event emphasized long-term environmental sustainability for the region.
