Kohima: The Chümoukedima Electrical Division plans to cut power to chronic defaulters starting July 17. This push seeks to claw back long-overdue payments and force residents to follow billing rules. The operation will hit every municipal ward in the town and the surrounding areas.
Work starts with Wards 10, 11, and 9 from July 17 through July 24. Crews move to Wards 8, 7, and 6 between July 27 and 31. The process continues through August with the final wards finishing by August 14. Officials will work under the gaze of police and the local press to keep things above board. The department said, "All disconnection operations will be carried out in the presence of District Administration, Police, and local press/media to ensure transparency and maintain law and order."
Pay your bills at the SDO office now. Do not wait for the lights to go out. The department is also offering on-the-spot new service connections during this period for anyone with the right paperwork and cash ready. Staff urged residents to pay up quickly to keep the power running for everyone in town.
