Chümoukedima Officials Search for Parents of Abandoned Newborn

Kohima: Authorities in Chümoukedima are searching for the family of a newborn boy. Someone left the infant at the 5th Mile Model Village local ground on June 24. He is about three days old.

District Child Protection Officer Nikito Zhimomi confirmed the baby is now in the hands of the Child Welfare Committee. The department processed the child under the Juvenile Justice Act of 2015. They need parents or legal guardians to step forward with proof of identity. The notice states: "The department has appealed to any person claiming to be the child's biological parent, legal guardian or having any lawful claim over the infant to contact the District Child Protection Unit or appear before the Child Welfare Committee with valid documentary proof within the period prescribed under law."

Claimants have 60 days to report to the office. If nobody claims the boy by then, officials will follow Adoption Regulations from 2022. You can reach the District Child Protection Unit at 8787435019 or email dcpuchumoukedima@gmail.com for more information.
