Aizawl: Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that the central government is prepared to release Rs 6 crore to strengthen Mizoram's power sector. The commitment follows a meeting in Aizawl between the minister and local leaders from the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Khattar stated that the funds will be disbursed within one week of the Mizoram government depositing its mandatory share of Rs 60 lakh. State BJP president K Beichhua had requested the release during the meeting, citing the urgent need for financial support to improve the department's operations.
The discussion also covered the welfare of contractual employees working under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission. The minister indicated that the upcoming launch of NULM 2.0 within the next two months may address these grievances and promised to look into the specific challenges mentioned.
BJP leaders additionally raised concerns about delays in housing assistance schemes, alleging that some beneficiaries have not received their secondary installments. They further claimed that qualified applicants are struggling to access state housing grants. In response, Khattar asked the state BJP leadership to provide a formal written representation so his office can review these allegations and take appropriate action.
