Kohima: The Central Bureau of Investigation hit 26 locations Monday. Agents swarmed sites in Nagaland and ten other states. They are hunting evidence of massive fund misuse. The probe targets the Border Roads Organisation.
Investigators looked into four separate cases. These involve Project Vijayak and Project Yojak in Ladakh. The agency uncovered fake labor rosters. Someone funneled cash to non-existent workers. Officials found irregularities in deployment and payments.
Four FIRs started the fire. They stem from a Ministry of Defence complaint. An internal BRO technical board flagged the mess first. The charges list cheating, forgery, and criminal conspiracy. Some face bribery counts under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The agency named ten officers as suspects. This includes Lieutenant Colonels, Majors, and engineers. Private individuals also face scrutiny. Agents seized stacks of documents and digital files. The CBI stated, "The agency said it remains committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter in the quickest possible time." The cleanup job continues.
