Guwahati: Cachar Police raided a home in Alipur Part-II on June 29. They found a stash of drugs hidden in a scooter parked on the property. The haul included 200 vials of suspected heroin and 310 narcotic tablets. Officers cuffed Shamsul Uddin and his daughter, Rahina Begum, right on the spot.
The operation took place under the Banskandi Police Outpost. Police acted on specific intelligence before moving in on the residence. The duo now faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Lakhipur Police Station. They are currently in custody.
Detectives are leaning on the pair for answers. They want to know where the contraband came from and who else is running the operation. A spokesperson stated, "The accused are being interrogated to ascertain the source of the contraband and to identify other members of the suspected drug trafficking network."
Cachar Police launched this anti-narcotics drive to kill the local drug trade. They intend to keep the pressure on. Investigations into the trafficking ring remain active.
