Guwahati: Cachar Police shut down a major fraud operation in the Alambagh area of Silchar. Officers seized 112 pieces of fake gold weighing 7.23 kilograms and detained one suspect during the raid. The bust followed specific intelligence tips.

Additional Superintendent of Police Manas Saikia held a press conference on July 10 to discuss the case. The suspect intended to sell the bogus metal to unsuspecting buyers for massive profits. Investigators now suspect this man belongs to a larger organized crime network. Police are currently working to track down other members of this syndicate.

Saikia warned citizens to stay alert. He advised people to only buy from authorized dealers and verify the authenticity of precious metals before handing over money. Saikia said, "Public cooperation is vital in curbing such financial crimes." Officials want anyone with information on suspicious gold deals to contact their local police station immediately.
