BSF Head Constable Dies by Suicide at Assam Border Post

Guwahati: A Border Security Force head constable died by suicide on Sunday while stationed at a border outpost in Assam's Sribhumi district. The deceased, 44-year-old Prem Kumar, served with the 171 Battalion and was originally from Punjab.

Initial reports indicate the jawan used his service rifle to end his life while on duty. Authorities including local police, BSF officials, and a magistrate arrived at the site to conduct legal procedures following the incident.

The body has been transferred for a post-mortem examination as officials work to determine the circumstances behind the death. An official statement confirmed that "further investigation is under way" to clarify the events leading to the tragedy.
