Imphal: Border Security Force Constable Deepak Chingakham was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra on June 8, 2026. The prestigious honour, which recognises his exceptional bravery and sacrifice for the nation, was presented to his family during an official investiture ceremony.

Former Manipur Chief Minister and senior BJP leader N. Biren Singh paid tribute to the fallen soldier through a public message. He praised Chingakham for his dedication to duty and his commitment to the country.

Reflecting on the impact of the constable's actions, Biren Singh stated, "I pay my deepest respects to Constable (Late) Deepak Chingakham of the Border Security Force, a brave son of Manipur, who has been posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra for his exceptional courage and supreme sacrifice in service of the nation."
