Border Standoff in Meghalaya After Failed Pushback of Bangladeshi National

Shillong: A tense standoff has emerged at the India-Bangladesh border in the South West Garo Hills, leaving an individual stuck in a legal and physical limbo. The conflict began at the Nandirchar sector under the Mahendraganj constituency when Border Security Force personnel detained a man who had illegally crossed the border into India.

After the BSF attempted to return the individual to Bangladesh, the Border Guard Bangladesh refused to accept him. Local residents on the Bangladeshi side joined the BGB in rejecting the man, leaving him stranded between the two nations. Viral videos of the incident, which have not been independently verified, show the man pacing along the fence line while officials from both countries argue over his status.

The clips have gained significant attention online, with one video being shared over 50,000 times. In that footage, a BGB soldier can be heard shouting at the BSF, "He is not our problem anymore!" as he gestures toward the Indian side of the border.
