Imphal: A bomb detonated at the home of Manipur BJP MLA Sapam Ranjan Singh early Wednesday. The blast rocked the residential campus in the Konthoujam constituency of Imphal West district around 1.30 am on August 28. Nobody was hurt.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited the site Friday afternoon to inspect the scene. Police are currently working to identify the explosives used and track down those responsible for the attack.
Singh recently returned to Imphal from New Delhi after briefing Central leaders on the state of unrest in Manipur. He spoke out against the violence after the incident. "I really condemn that because, luckily, with God's grace, no one was hurt. Such things should never ever be repeated," he said.
Local women held a sit-in protest outside the residence following the explosion. They demanded an end to such violent incidents in their community.
