Blast rips through Agartala apartment building

Agartala: A violent explosion tore through an apartment building in Agartala on June 24. The blast hit the first floor of NS Apartment near Sankat Chowmuhani around noon. Windows shattered. The building sustained significant damage. Panic gripped the residents.

Emergency crews rushed to Ramnagar Road No. 4. Police, fire teams, and bomb disposal units arrived to secure the area. SDPO Deba Prasad Roy confirmed the location of the incident and stated that authorities are working to determine the source of the blast. He said, "an investigation had begun to determine the source and cause of the explosion."

Several people suffered injuries. A woman required transport to GB Hospital after glass fragments struck near her eye. Another man on the first floor reported intense pain following the impact. Officials directed medical teams to prioritize the victims.

Investigators have not pinned down a cause yet. Residents pointed to a potential gas leak, but police are keeping their options open. Forensics experts remain on the scene to gather evidence.
