Imphal: BJP Manipur president Sharda Devi slammed rumors of a separate state administration. She confirmed the central leadership plans to hold the state lines steady. The Rajya Sabha MP dismissed calls for division during a party event held to welcome retired IRS officer Gaigongdin Panmei into the fold.
Panmei, a former Principal Director General under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, officially joined the party to represent the 53-Tamenglong Assembly Constituency. Sharda praised the new member, noting that his public service background helps the organization. She insists the BJP remains the only group capable of protecting local interests.
The party has faced heavy heat over the ongoing ethnic violence. Sharda admitted that public frustration is high. She countered claims that the party acts in a communal way by pointing to past presidential appointments. She stated, "The BJP is the only political party capable of protecting Manipur's interests."
Violence blocks growth. Sharda pushed for reconciliation and peace between divided groups. She argued that a stable BJP government is the only way to save the future of the state. The central leadership, she claims, will not budge on the issue of territorial unity.
