Guwahati: The District Disaster Management Authority in Baksa met on Saturday at the District Commissioner’s Office in Mushalpur to coordinate flood preparedness. Chaired by District Commissioner Kimnei Changsan, the session focused on refining emergency response strategies and assessing potential damage for the upcoming seasons.
Officials confirmed that 15 relief camps have been designated for emergency use. Changsan instructed teams to ensure these locations are situated on elevated ground and provide essential facilities such as sanitation, electricity, and clean drinking water. The administration is also prioritizing the availability of food, medicines, anti-venom, and veterinary supplies to handle potential crises.
During the review, the District Commissioner directed officials to conduct regular field visits in vulnerable areas to guarantee that resources are properly deployed. Addressing the group, Changsan emphasized the need to "expedite preventive and mitigation measures in flood-prone areas" to ensure a coordinated response. Department representatives also presented their individual contingency plans and provided updates on pending proposals to the Circle Level Task Force Committees.
