Guwahati: B. Borooah College in Guwahati is launching a four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme starting with the 2026-27 academic session. This move lets students earn an undergraduate degree and a teaching qualification at the same time. It cuts a full year off the standard timeline.
The college is working with Government Banikanta College of Teacher Education to run the course. Students can choose between B.A. B.Ed. or B.Sc. B.Ed. tracks. The school promises a mix of classroom time, subject study, and hands-on professional training. Graduates will be ready to teach at the higher secondary level. They also keep the option to go for an M.A. or M.Sc. later.
B. Borooah College is celebrating 83 years of history. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council gave the school an A++ grade with a 3.62 score. College officials noted the effort is "part of the institution's response to national reforms in teacher education."
The college built new hostels for both boys and girls. These houses aim to serve students from across the Northeast, plus those traveling from West Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha. Candidates need to register on the Assam Samarth Admission Portal to apply for a seat.
