Guwahati: B. Borooah College in Guwahati will roll out a four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme starting with the 2026-27 academic session. The school is teaming up with Government Banikanta College of Teacher Education to offer the course. Students will earn an undergraduate degree and a teaching qualification at the same time.
The program offers B.A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. tracks. This condensed format cuts down the total time spent in the classroom compared to earning the degrees separately. Graduates will gain the right to teach at the higher secondary level. They can also continue into postgraduate studies like M.A. or M.Sc. degrees. The college states the program will "combine subject knowledge, pedagogical training, classroom exposure and professional preparation for teaching careers."
Housing is ready. The college set up separate hostels for men and women to accommodate students from across the Northeast and beyond. Those looking to sign up can head to the Assam Samarth Admission Portal when applications open.
The college sits in central Guwahati, roughly one kilometer from the rail station. This move follows the institution's 83rd anniversary. The NAAC recently awarded the school an A++ grade with a 3.62 CGPA. Officials claim this score stands as the highest accreditation for any government-sector college in Northeast India.
