Kohima: Tseminyu Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch opened a new Axis Bank branch in Chunlikha today. The branch sits in an area previously lacking financial services. It aims to support the local economy by providing loans to students, entrepreneurs, and self-help groups.
Residents can now open savings accounts and access government programs like PMEGP and CMMFI. The facility offers a full suite of banking tools including credit cards, insurance, and investment products. Digital options like mobile and WhatsApp banking are also active.
Poujaulung, Vice President and Cluster Head for Axis Bank in Dimapur, confirmed the branch exists to serve the unbanked block. "Chunlikha Branch is a full-fledged Branch and is equipped to provide all services and facilitate the public in terms of Financial Literacy in Chunlikha Block under Tseminyu District."
The bank now operates 18 branches and 25 ATMs across eight districts in Nagaland. Local leaders pledged their support to ensure the bank stays operational. Officials expect the move to push financial independence throughout the region.
