Atoizu Ward Bye-Election Sees High Voter Turnout

Kohima: The bye-election for Ward-9 of the Atoizu Town Council in Zunheboto concluded on Tuesday with a high voter turnout of 96.41 percent. Out of 195 eligible electors, 188 residents cast their votes to fill the vacant seat.

Two candidates contested the position: G Shikavi Kiba of the NPF and independent candidate Inaka Z Chishi. Returning Officer and Extra Assistant Commissioner Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak reported that the process remained smooth throughout the day.

Addressing the media following the vote, Dr. Konyak stated, "Polling was conducted peacefully and witnessed enthusiastic participation from voters. No major disruptions were recorded during the voting process."
