Guwahati: Assam Women and Child Development Minister Ajanta Neog launched a new mobile app for the Assam State Commission for Women on Tuesday, August 11. The tool lets women lodge complaints directly from their phones instead of traveling to the commission office. It removes barriers for women in remote regions or those stuck in dangerous situations. The app is currently live on both the Google Play Store and the Apple iOS platform.
Minister Neog pushed for widespread awareness regarding the digital tool. She noted the system requires consistent maintenance to function effectively. During the event, she demanded, "regular updates to the application and greater awareness about the platform among women across Assam." Commission officials confirmed they will verify all digital submissions before contacting relevant departments for enforcement.
While the commission pushes into the digital age, older cases remain unresolved. The commission is still reviewing a case filed against Bihpuria MLA Bhupen Bora. The MLA failed to appear at previous sessions, citing ongoing electoral duties. A future hearing date will determine when the case moves forward.

ASCW Chairperson Angoorlata Deka confirmed the formal launch took place at the commission office. Deka also emphasized the platform allows women to submit grievances from anywhere in the state.
