Guwahati: The All Assam 108 Mrityunjay Employees' Association wants a high-level investigation into a boat ambulance crash in Majuli. One person remains missing. The group says the government must address potential fraud within the 108 emergency service operation.
Staff claim the service uses Bhootbhooti boats instead of proper ambulances. They previously flagged these concerns to authorities, yet the situation remains unresolved. The probe needs to cover boat fitness, operator qualifications, fuel spending, and fund usage. They also suspect the setup allows for illegal commission payouts.
The association specifically named PM Dhurjyoti Bora and other service managers for inclusion in the investigation. They are not assigning blame yet, but they want accountability. "If any corruption, irregularity, negligence or misuse of government funds is found, strict legal action must be taken against those responsible," the association said.
The group demands immediate safety audits for every boat in the 108 fleet. They also want a full account of maintenance costs and state funding. They still hold hope that SDRF personnel will rescue the missing pilot, Madhav, who vanished during the wreck. Officials must now determine how to run the service safely and scientifically.
