Guwahati: Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah presented the state's recent progress in public financial management during the North East Externally Aided Projects workshop in Shillong, Meghalaya. The session focused on accountability and financial oversight, positioning Assam as a regional leader in institutional reform.
Key initiatives like the Assam State Public Finance Institutional Reforms project and the upcoming Assam Green and Sustainable Development project served as models for other northeastern states. These efforts aim to streamline how government resources are managed to boost project efficiency and overall transparency.
Addressing the assembly of regional policymakers and stakeholders, Baruah noted that these systemic upgrades are essential for modernizing state governance. "The reforms have contributed significantly to strengthening governance, enhancing transparency, and improving the delivery of development projects," Baruah said. The Assam government remains committed to these financial systems as a way to ensure development reaches citizens more effectively.
