Assam Rifles Seize Heroin in Aizawl Raid

Shillong: Assam Rifles troops joined forces with the state excise and narcotics department this Wednesday to raid a home in Aizawl. They found 63 grams of heroin stashed in hidden spots. The haul carries a street value of Rs 47.25 lakh. Four people, including three women, landed in handcuffs.

Investigators say the drugs came from across the border in Myanmar. The suspects planned to push the supply into local neighborhoods. The excise department now holds the group for questioning. Official sources confirmed the move: "The apprehended individuals along with the seized narcotics were taken in custody by the excise and narcotics department, Aizawl for further investigation and necessary legal action."

The agency shifted focus to prevention on Friday. They hosted a lecture at Holy Cross School in Champhai to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. About 350 students and 15 teachers showed up for the talk. Speakers broke down how narcotics destroy health and trap border communities in a cycle of crime.
