Guwahati: The Assam Rifles hosted a tree plantation drive on June 1 in Jagun, located in the Tinsukia district of Assam. This environmental initiative brought together 150 participants to plant saplings across the area, aiming to raise awareness about ecological sustainability and the preservation of nature.

The event drew a diverse crowd, including local residents, ex-servicemen, students, and representatives from the Forest Department and the Assam Gorkha Students Union. Organizers emphasized that the collective effort serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility to maintain a healthy environment.

Beyond its environmental impact, the program helped foster stronger ties between the military and the local community. Assam Rifles officials noted that such outreach efforts remain a key part of their ongoing commitment to public welfare and regional ecological health.
