Assam residents slam media for reporting on Satra arrest

Guwahati: Residents of Sri Sri Shalguri Satra in Sivasagar district pushed back against news reports on July 11. They claim coverage regarding Kirti Kamal Dev Goswami is distorted. The man is currently facing arrest, but he has not been convicted of any crime. Stop calling him a criminal.

Community members held a press conference at Shalguri Natya Mandir to set the record straight. They took issue with media outlets labeling Goswami as the Deka Satradhikar. That title belongs to his father, not him. The locals insist the press stop dragging the father into this mess.

The community representatives addressed the media directly during the event. "Kirti Kamal Dev Goswami is only an accused. No court has declared him guilty yet. Therefore, it is not appropriate to project him as a criminal," they stated.

The residents pointed fingers at an unnamed individual with the surname Hazarika. They claim this person instigated the events leading to the arrest. They offered no hard proof to back the claim. Police have remained silent on the matter as the investigation continues.
