Assam Pushes to Speed Up Urban Infrastructure Projects

Guwahati: Assam Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai led a board meeting at Janata Bhawan on July 4. He reviewed progress on major urban infrastructure projects handled by the Assam Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation Limited. The meeting aimed to sharpen focus on project timelines and cash management.

Rai demanded better results. He pressed for tighter coordination between all agencies involved in building up the state. The Minister told the board, "Coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to accelerate urban development and improve civic infrastructure and public services" are required to meet current demands.

Top officials joined the discussion, including Kavitha Padmanabhan from the Housing and Urban Affairs Department and Finance Secretary Mauchumi Baruah. They discussed how to strengthen institutional capacity and run projects with more transparency. The state government wants infrastructure that lasts and serves the growing population across its urban centers.
