Assam Prepares for Launch of 1,929 Crore Rural Development Scheme

Guwahati: The Assam government has finalized its implementation roadmap for the ambitious VB-GRAMG rural development scheme. A cabinet committee met at Janata Bhawan to coordinate the rollout of the initiative, which aims to enhance rural infrastructure and create new livelihood opportunities across the state.

Assam Minister Atul Bora chaired the meeting alongside senior cabinet colleagues and government officials. The committee focused on departmental convergence and strategic planning to ensure the program achieves its goals of improving connectivity and socio-economic conditions. Minister Bora noted that the program is set to provide major momentum to rural development initiatives and improve the quality of life in villages across the state.

The central government has allocated Rs 1,929.70 crore for the scheme in Assam, supplemented by an additional Rs 200 crore contribution from the state government. Representatives from various sectors, including finance, agriculture, education, and public health, provided recommendations during the session to ensure effective execution.

State officials formally acknowledged the contributions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in launching this nationwide project. The scheme is scheduled to go live across the state on July 1.
