Guwahati: Police in Assam's Nagaon district disrupted a suspected vehicle theft ring on June 10, recovering six motorcycles and taking one man into custody. Officers from the Doomdoomia Police Outpost executed the operation at the Balisatra weekly market, leading to the arrest of Ashikul Islam, a resident of Bajakati Pathar.

Led by police officer Kartik Basak, the team moved in after identifying the bikes as suspected stolen property. Authorities are currently questioning Islam to determine the origin of the vehicles and uncover potential ties to wider criminal networks operating throughout the region.

Officials stated, "Police have launched an intensive investigation to ascertain the origin of the seized motorcycles and determine whether they are linked to a larger vehicle theft network operating across districts." Investigators anticipate that the interrogation of the suspect will lead to additional arrests and further recoveries as the case unfolds.
