Assam Police Seize Narcotics Worth Rs 2.44 Crore in Barpeta

Guwahati: Assam Police seized narcotics valued at approximately Rs 2.44 crore in the Barpeta district on May 28. Officers intercepted a truck acting on specific intelligence reports that indicated the vehicle was transporting illegal substances hidden within a concealed cavity.

During a thorough search of the vehicle, authorities discovered 671 grams of heroin alongside 22,000 YABA tablets. These items were stored in a compartment specifically modified for smuggling purposes.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the seizure on X, noting that police managed to intercept the shipment before it reached its intended destination. Investigators are currently working to trace the broader drug network and identify the individuals responsible for the trafficking operation.
