Guwahati: Police in Assam rescued a five-month-old girl from Moirabari following allegations that her mother sold the infant for 50,000 rupees. The mother subsequently fled to Kerala, leaving the child behind.
The case broke when the baby's father, Faruk Hussain, went to the Sutirpar Police station to file a formal complaint. Officers tracked the child to the Moirabari area and brought her to safety. She has since been reunited with her father.
Investigators are now working to identify everyone involved in the transaction. They want to know why this happened. "The circumstances that led to the alleged sale, including whether she acted under someone's influence or due to financial hardship, are currently under investigation," police stated.
Authorities are still hunting for the mother. They are digging into the motive behind the sale to see if others played a role in the crime.
