Assam Police Destroy Millions in Seized Narcotics

Guwahati: Karbi Anglong Police wiped out 48.34 crore worth of illegal drugs on June 26. They burned the haul at a disposal site near 9 Mile, Manja Road. The destruction followed strict legal protocols and involved officials from the district administration and senior police staff.

The fire consumed a massive inventory gathered from various busts. The debris included 800.240 kg of cannabis, 4,884.91 grams of heroin, and over 32 kg of morphine. Officers also destroyed 160 bottles of cough syrup, 9.49058 kg of poppy straw, and 58,859 intoxicating tablets.

Additional Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Saikia oversaw the operation. He made it clear that the department will not ease up on its enforcement. "Anti-narcotics operations will continue with full intensity to dismantle drug networks and ensure a drug-free society," Saikia said.

This move highlights the current zero-tolerance stance held by the Assam Police. Officers are actively hunting down supply chains to clean up the streets.
