Assam police crack down on reckless bikers during Eid celebrations

Guwahati: Police in Assam's Bongaigaon district launched a targeted enforcement operation in Jogighopa to curb reckless driving during the Eid-ul-Azha festival. Officers established multiple checkpoints to monitor traffic and address reports of nuisance riding that threatened public safety.

During the drive, authorities confiscated several motorcycles. Many of the seized vehicles featured illegal modifications, specifically high-decibel challenger exhausts designed to create excessive noise.

Officials stated the crackdown aimed to prevent road accidents and ensure the holiday remained peaceful for residents. Local police have since increased their surveillance across the district, issuing a stern warning that illegal bike alterations and dangerous maneuvers will not be tolerated.
