Guwahati: Golaghat district police arrested Sarupathar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dipen Patar. Officers took him into custody following a deep probe into a criminal network siphoning crude oil from ONGC pipelines. The arrest marks a blow to local law enforcement integrity.
A specialized team led by Crime Branch Superintendent of Police Jan Das handled the operation. Patar stands accused of facilitating the illegal fuel racket. Investigators are now working to determine the full scope of the theft and the specific actions of the officer. "The arrest of a serving police officer in connection with the alleged crude oil theft racket has raised serious questions about the involvement of officials in the illegal operation," local sources noted.
Authorities continue to gather evidence. More arrests could follow soon. The investigation remains active as police hunt for other suspects connected to the pipeline scheme.
