Guwahati: Political chaos has gripped the Chapar Municipal Board in Assam. Eight ward commissioners filed a no-confidence motion Thursday against Chairperson Beauty Roy and Vice-Chairman Arun Kumar Nag. The move aims to strip both officials of their power immediately.

The trouble started June 20. The Bilasipara District BJP ordered the pair to resign within three days. Party leadership acted after receiving complaints about financial rot, corruption, and sloppy work on town projects. The bosses stayed put. They ignored the party deadline, forcing the commissioners to take action.

The rebels sent a formal request to the Dhubri District Commissioner. They want a floor test right now. The commissioners claim, "systemic corruption, favouritism, and financial discrepancies" define the current regime. They are waiting for the administration to step in and settle the stalemate.
