Assam Ministers Inspect Repair Progress on East-West Corridor

Guwahati: Assam Minister Kaushik Rai visited the Dima Hasao district on June 20 to oversee construction and repair efforts on the Silchar-Saurashtra East-West Corridor. Accompanied by Barak Valley Development Minister Krishnendu Paul, Rai inspected critical project zones between Nirimboi and Harangajao, specifically focusing on damaged sections at Jatinga, Rekho, Boro Mulkhoi, and Dalaichung.

The inspection included key stakeholders, such as North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council leader Debolal Gorlosa and local officials. They assessed how current weather conditions and recent landslides have impacted the timeline of the infrastructure project. The National Highways Authority of India confirmed that operations are proceeding steadily and that teams are working to finish the corridor as soon as possible.

Minister Rai credited Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the current momentum on the site. He stated, The highway project is progressing rapidly due to the active intervention and regular monitoring of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. With repair works currently moving on a war footing, state officials remain confident that the finished roadway will provide safe and efficient travel for the region.
