Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu praised the Takam Mising Porin Kebang for its work with the Mising community. The student group has pushed for social change and education since 1971. Pegu spoke at the group’s 17th General Conference held at the Mising Kristi Bhawan in Jonai on July 12.

The minister attended the event with MLAs Bhubon Gam, Bhubon Pegu, and Naba Kumar Doley. He credited the organization for protecting the Mising language and advocating for community rights. He noted, "The organisation has evolved into the foremost student body dedicated to the holistic development of the Mising community, with a strong focus on empowering its youth."

Pegu told attendees to keep a tight grip on tradition while preparing for the global economy. He wants the youth to build new skills without losing their roots. Progress demands a balance between identity and ambition. The minister believes this dual approach ensures a prosperous future for the Mising people.
