Guwahati: A man in Assam's Nagaon district stands accused of shaking down a local resident by using the name of the top cop. Riyazul Islam, from Garajan Futaljar, allegedly told Fakar Uddin Ahmed that he needed cash to buy liquor for the Superintendent of Police.
Islam claimed he had deep ties to the police brass to make his demand stick. Fakar Uddin Ahmed did not buy it. He marched to the Rupahihat Police Station and filed a formal FIR against the man.
The complaint calls for a fast, thorough investigation into the matter. Ahmed wants justice for the misuse of police authority. He stated in the report that he is "seeking legal action over the alleged demand for money in the name of the police."
