Guwahati: The Assam Legislative Assembly in Guwahati will host the Young Indians Parliament 2026 on July 3 and 4. The event brings together over 165 students from across the state to practice the inner workings of Indian government. Organizers from the Young Indians initiative and the Assam State School Education Board designed the program to teach civic duty.
Students from classes IX to XII will take on roles as ministers, opposition leaders, and committee members. They will handle policy debates, legislative drafting, and the high-pressure environment of a formal Question Hour. Sixty-six participants earned their spots by winning district-level debates, while roughly 100 more join from private schools. ASSEB Chairman R. C. Jain noted the event's value for the next generation. He said, "The programme provides students with an opportunity to learn about democracy and responsible citizenship through practical experience."
Legislative Assembly Speaker Ranjeet Kumar Dass will kick off the opening ceremony on July 3. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu handles the awards on the final day, recognizing top performers in public speaking and debate. This event acts as a primary push to spark youth interest in national leadership and democratic participation.
