Guwahati: Assam claimed the top spot across India for settling public complaints during the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year. The state dominated the rankings for both the National Food Security Act and the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System.

The central government awarded Assam an Excellent rating for its work. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma credited the win to a beefed up Public Distribution System and faster response times for citizens. The state aims to keep service delivery sharp.

Sarma praised the team effort. "We hear your issues, we solve them," Sarma said. This marks a push toward a more responsive, citizen-focused government administration.
