Assam Kicks Off Innovation Challenge With 40 Lakh Grants

Guwahati: Assam officials opened the North East Seva First Innovation Challenge 2026 at the Administrative Staff College in Khanapara. The event sits under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan umbrella. It aims to bridge the gap between colleges, the government, and the private sector.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the launch alongside Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota. TSAT manufacturing head Tim McIntosh and innovation secretary Dr. Jeevan B also joined the proceedings. They want to turn student ideas into real products. Students need practical solutions.

The competition includes 50 distinct challenges for participants. Winners can earn grants reaching up to 40 lakh rupees. The initiative also helps innovators secure their first customers. Organizers stated the effort acts as a platform to encourage creative and critical thinking among students.

This work supports the long-term vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Schools must partner with industry leaders to drive growth. The state hopes this program transforms how local talent approaches industry hurdles.
