Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led state tributes on Friday to mark Bishnu Rabha Divas. He remembered Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha as a defining figure in the state's political, cultural, and social evolution, noting that his influence persists through his extensive contributions to literature, theatre, and the freedom movement.

Sarma highlighted that Rabha was far more than an artist, serving as a dedicated visionary for a stronger and more progressive Assam. Regarding his deep-rooted impact, the Chief Minister remarked, "Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha was one of the doyens of the greater Assamese society. His contributions to Assam went far beyond culture, touching upon every important issue concerning the state and its people."

The event also served as a platform for the state government to recognise contemporary leaders in art and culture. Officials presented the Bishnu Rabha Award, the Sati Sadhani Award, and the Ajan Peer Award to various recipients. These honours celebrate individuals who have significantly enriched Assam through their commitment to literature, communal harmony, and the arts.
