Guwahati: Police in Assam’s Dhubri district arrested Shahjahan Hussain Sheikh, the headmaster of 333 Sohrab Char Lower Primary School. He faces serious allegations of sexual assault and coercion. A woman filed a formal complaint claiming Sheikh exploited her and pushed her into a long-term illicit relationship. She stated these incidents took place near his school.
Officers booked the case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Sheikh appeared in Dhubri District Court on Thursday as investigators began their work. Authorities are currently recording witness statements and gathering evidence to verify the woman’s claims.
A police official commented on the progress of the inquiry. “The case has been registered under the relevant legal provisions. We are carrying out a detailed investigation into every aspect of the allegations, and further legal action will depend on the findings of the probe,” the official said. The investigation remains in its early stages. Parents in the local community expressed shock that a school leader now stands accused of such predatory behavior.
