Guwahati: Assam Governor Amar Lakshman Prasad Acharya honored the state's fallen soldiers on June 8 at the Swaheed Shraddhanjali ceremony in Guwahati. The event, hosted by the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, served as a formal tribute to those who gave their lives in service to the nation.
The ceremony brought together senior government officials, armed forces members, ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, and the families of martyrs. Participants gathered at the memorial to lay floral tributes and wreaths, collectively recognizing the commitment of those who died in the line of duty.
Addressing those in attendance, Governor Acharya emphasized the lasting impact of these losses. "They made the ultimate sacrifice. We owe them and their families a debt of gratitude. We paid our respects here at the War Memorial. We salute them and express our deep appreciation," the Governor stated.
This initiative is part of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare's ongoing efforts to acknowledge the contributions of both active and retired military personnel. Speakers at the event highlighted that the patriotism and courage displayed by these soldiers remain an enduring inspiration for future generations, while reaffirming the necessity of supporting the families they left behind.
