Guwahati: Forest officials seized a Tata DI truck packed with teak logs late October 10. The bust occurred in the Singra Forest Range right along the border of Assam and Meghalaya. Officers chased the vehicle after it crossed over from Meghalaya toward Boko.

Singra Forest Range Officer Kamal Deka and Hahim Beat Officer Swahnewaz Hussain led the operation. They stopped the truck on suspicion of moving timber without proper paperwork. The border has long been a hotspot for illegal logging. Officials are currently working to pin down the origin of the wood and the identities of those involved.

"The team acted on the suspicion that the vehicle was transporting valuable timber without the required authorisation." Investigators are still waiting on official word regarding the validity of transport documents and the specific legal path forward for the suspects.
