Guwahati: Excise enforcement officers swarmed National Highway 315 in Assam on Friday. They targeted illegal liquor sales at roadside dhabas between Dehing and Ledo. The operation resulted in four criminal cases filed under the Assam Excise Act.

Teams pulled 2.7 bulk litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, 9.75 bulk litres of beer, and 9 bulk litres of country spirit from the shelves. Officials also destroyed 20 litres of homemade moonshine on the spot. Authorities confirmed the seized stock was intended for local sale.

The department issued legal notices to those involved. According to the Excise Department, "the enforcement drive was part of its continuing campaign to curb the illegal sale, storage and distribution of liquor in the district." Officers intend to keep the pressure on illegal traders operating within the Margherita Police Station jurisdiction.
