Guwahati: The Assam State Election Commission is moving ahead with voter list preparations for the Mising Autonomous Council polls. Officials must finish the final list by August 17. The project follows the Mising Autonomous Council (Election) Rules of 2005.

District Commissioners received orders on June 30 to start the work. They will use the Assembly Electoral Roll from February 10, 2026, as the base for the process. January 1, 2026, marks the qualifying date for all voters. Electoral Registration Officers will now split these rolls to match new polling stations after recent delimitation.

Staff will handle data entry and mapping through July 12. Draft rolls go live on July 22. The Commission will take public feedback until August 6 and resolve all issues by August 13. The Commission stated that "Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers for all Mising Autonomous Council constituencies have already been appointed through a separate order issued on June 29."

This registration push follows changes to the council boundaries. The Department of Tribal Affairs finished the delimitation process in January 2025. Workers are now cleaning up the lists to ensure the vote goes ahead as planned.
